Is society ready to ditch religion?
This is a real question. Science is answering more and more questions that used to only be answerable by "god". Rainbows aren't a sign of a promise that there will not be another worldwide flood. The heavens are not a thin tarp-like material that dome over a flat unmovable earth. Rain isn't caused by god opening a window. As superstition continues to fail and communication and information continue to become more accessible, will we finally realize that the modern religions are no more real than all of the other dead belief systems of the past?
I don't blame people for believing in modern superstitions any more than I fault past peoples for believing in their 'gods'. The threat of damnation against the prospect of eternal bliss is powerful...but that doesn't make it real. I think the sooner society society starts dedicating the resources we waste on superstition on real problems, the sooner we will make real progress as a society.

Your "question" is nothing of the sort. It's a loosely bundled hodgepodge of presuppositions and religious bigotry.
You might have a good argument here, if you had any facts to back it up. You pass judgment on the purpose of rainbows, and yet there's no scientific evidence to support your assertion or refute the Biblical claim (and in fact, since a global flood hasn't reoccurred, the data backs up the Biblical claim.) You claim the Heavens are a thin tarp-like material, but you don't say what religious belief makes this claim (hint: it's not Christianity or Judaism.) You claim that someone believes rain is caused by God opening a window, but again, there's no reference to a belief system (and again, there's definitely no connection to Christianity or Judaism.)
I don't blame people for believing in or rejecting religious belief when they know what they're talking about. They're foolish and ignorant, however, when they claim to reach decisions that are based on "facts" that are simply made up or pulled out of their backsides.
